My project was in the area of writing, science, and technology. Students researched two planets in our solar system. Then they created a powerpoint presentation with the information they gathered. They used various sites to locate information and images. Useful sites that I had pre-approved are linked to my blog, so students could easily locate grade level information at home and at school.

Reflection:
This project was very fun to do with the kids! They were very motivated to complete the project and find useful informaiton from eachother and from the web. This project lends itself to differentiation. More advanced students took their research further and were able to create presetations using the bells and whistles of powerpoint. Other students learned a lot about paragraph structure and organization. They could "see" their writing easier on the white board as they re-watch their video. If I do this project again, I will give them opportunites to use other programs to present their research.
The symbaloo made finding the link and easy and visually appealling!
ReplyDeleteI like the use of symbaloo on your blog. It is always great for the kids to find their work online. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think it's definitely important to have students trying to make Ppt's when they are younger so when they get to 5th, 6th, 7th grade they know how to do it and can jump into the project easily. This is also a great way to teach organization of thoughts and how to simplify writing to create simple paragraphs.
ReplyDeleteGreat new twist to cover the same old information and engage students.
ReplyDeleteSuper way to compare/contrast any topic!! It is also nice to be able to access symbaloo from home.
ReplyDeleteI like how you had the sites linked to your blog, so that students could work on it at home.
