Fraction math review

For my lesson I divided my kids into small groups and explained that each group was going to teach the class one fraction skill. They had to make up a problem and then teach the class how to solve it. Each group video taped themselves and then uploaded their videos to YouTube. Now they all have an online study guide!

My students really enjoyed this lesson. They loved video taping each other and being the "teacher." My first class took forever to get the videos uploaded, but the second class went much faster. After watching the videos I realized that the kids need to write bigger, zoom in on the board, and talk louder. I hope that the kids will use these videos to help them study for our upcoming test.
I would definitely do more review videos especially if my kids actually use them to study or help them with their homework. My goal would be for the kids to be able to complete the entire process more quickly.

  1. This is a really awesome tool. I did the same thing for division and posted to our classroom YouTube. I had some great feedback from parents when they saw the videos. I also embedded to our class Facebook which they loved. Video taping is so easy and fun and a great way to show just about any math skill.
