Curriculum Night Presentation- Art 6-8

I videotaped 8th grade students with their 3D Letter sculpture. Students stated on thing they learned from this art project. Also, our technology assistant, Lori Condelire, took video of some students working on their art work. I used Image Mate to take pictures of student work with the intention of creating a PowerPoint presentation for Curriculum Night at Truman. I incorporated the videos into the PowerPoint presentation.

The PowerPoint presentation was an effective way to show a lot of student art and video of an art class in progress for a Curriculum Night. I had the PowerPoint running as I spoke to parents about the art program at Truman.

Evidence of Learning

Reflection

I found that most students are uncomfortable being videotaped and have trouble talking about their art work. If I would frequently videotape students working on their art projects they would probably become more comfortable and it would encourage them to reflect on their art work and processes used to create it. Videotaping is, however, time consuming and would cut into time that I would spend helping students. In the future I could display student work on a blog as soon as students finish their work. Now, students are taking pictures of their art work with their cell phones to show their parents what they are working on.
