So....you took your clickers back to your room yesterday. Did you rise up and meet the challenge? If so, share one way you used the clickers in the past 24 hours by commenting on this post. :) Happy clicking!
My class has been working on identifying verbs and adverbs. This morning they came in and had to find the verb in seven sentences and send it to me. Quick and easy assessment.
Yes we used it yesterday afternoon to text in ideas on how to use the clickers and then they texted in their weekend plans. Today we are using them for 3 fraction problems at the beginning of math. The kids are so excited!
Yesterday we used them with our math lesson. The kids LOVED responding with the cickers and I loved that they were ALL engaged and thinking! They came in this morning asking to use them. I hope the magic of clickers never ends!
Yes. I used them this morning. I showed them a few important buttons and then asked them some simple questions. We have them on their desks with velcro and the baggies for in their desk. They love them and can't get enough. Later they will vote on what they want to do at the end of the day: math centers or finish a snowflake activity.
I can't wait to find out how to more than just the simple questions. I would like to prepare a series of questions for morning work next week.
My class started researching the Chinese New Year with their buddy class today. So yesterday, we watched the Brain Pop on New Year's Celebrations around the world. At the end, they used their clickers to take the Brain Pop quiz (multiple choice), the T/F Quiz and then answered text questions. This morning, my homeroom did their lunch count with their clickers and answered questions like: What block letter day is it?
Sheri- Check out this link. You can actually install something on your computer to integrate both BrainPOP and the clickers. SOOO COOL!!! http://lindberghlinc.blogspot.com/2012/01/did-you-know.html
We used them to answer basic questions yesterday about how we can use them. Today we used them on BrainPop for science, a series of question for a quiz in math, and review in reading.
I am having trouble with the timer for text responses, but the kids love them.
Today I checked to see what my students learned in Social Studies while I was at Elite training by asking questions and having students respond with the clickers. They loved it, and I was able to see who really tuned in to the info.
We had all kinds of fun in half-day kindergarten with our clickers today. I have to say that it was one of the fastest days for me all year, and I have fast days! The boys and girls were thrilled...thought they had "arrived" in the big time. We practiced turning them on, locating letters, typing in the letter of the day, number of the day, word of the week. Then later, we used them to select "yes" or "no" to answer questions during our social studies lesson. I was really impressed with how quickly the kids got the hang of it. They loved seeing their numbers light up, and interpreting the results graphs. It was an AWESOME day!
We love the clickers! We have used them lots the last 2 days!! My class wants me to learn how to enter in questions for them to answer. I used them to tell me the main character of a book, they had to use their spelling magnetic letters to make words before our spelling lesson, I had them enter in answers to an activity so I can monitor progress and understanding! They are a wonderful addition to teaching. The kids are not distracted by them and keep them on their desk when not in use. I say "Text me your answer" and they really love that they are texting!
We just got our clickers today! We are so excited. We tried them out right away! First,we had a class meeting to learn how to be careful with our new clickers and to find out where we would keep them in the classroom. Then, we did a few simple tasks that were mentioned at Elite class like: type in if you are a boy or girl, type what your age is and type our first names. Tomorrow, we will type in our names again and put them in ABC order. We are also going to use the clickers for an a.m. check-in activity. The kids LOVE techno devices!!!
I used them all day! In one class I was planning to move on to new material, and I asked the kids to vote if they were confident enough to move on - the overwhelming response was NO - so I changed my lesson on the fly for that class.
In another class we played the "steal the bacon" game that was on the movie Angie showed us. The kids really enjoyed it and so did I :) Thanks for the new devices!!
Yesterday, we talked about how to use them and keep them safe. We also texted in some simple questions such as what is the weather like outside? Today during my reading lesson, I had my kids text in what they thought the main idea of the story was and what the word rumbling meant in the story. I was amazed at how engaged they were and kept their clickers in their lap until they needed them. These clickers are amazing!
We began using our clickers as soon as I got back to school with them (well, almost)! First we had a class meeting about how to take care of them and the basics of how to use them. After that for practice, I asked them simple questions such as how old are you, what is your name etc... Today, since it's the 100th day of school, we have used our clickers to answer lots of math questions surrounding the number 100 and several about the story elements in a story about the 100th day of school. My first graders LOVE the clickers!!
We used the clickers at the beginning of math answering two-digit subtraction problems. It was a review of subtraction but also an introduction to subtracting money. The class loved the clickers and it showed me who remembered how to subtract and who had forgotten.

Get that coach of yours on over to your room to help you with that. :) So exciting!
DeleteI want to learn how to enter morning questions also.
DeleteI like the morning work questions, too!

Love it! I looked at it, but was not actually teaching with clickers at the time, so I will have to return to it later...thanks!!!

We used them to reflect on how their group functioned. Anonymous questions allow them to be honest. Was someone bossy? Did you participate equally?

ReplyDeleteMy kids took a math quiz on them and loved it. They still showed their work on their white boards and entered answers through the activexpressions.
