I looked at the cooltools site, and experimented with graphing sites, which were too complex for kindergarten. Then I experimented with the drawing sites, and got frustrated there, too. Then I decided to google 2.0 sites for Kindergarten, and came up with some interesting stuff.
This site has guidelines for what makes a 2.0 site good for Kindergarten.
And there were
some examples of good sites to use, too.
The
Build a Train Game was the one that I finally incorporated into a lesson. My students used it to build their understanding of adding on and taking away, which will lead into more complex problem solving. After we did this activity as a whole class, students were able to do it in small groups during center time stations.
It is very hard to find useful 2.0 sites for kindergarten. I had to spend a lot of time looking for something that would work, and had lots of problems with the graphing and drawing sites I tried. I much prefer making flip charts and working on Promethean Planet. However, the kids did like the Build a Train game a lot, and were able to do it independently. I feel like they will have better addition and subtraction skills due to their experiences.
