1. A description of your project. What did you do for your lesson?
I created a flip chart to correlate with our Ch. 10 math lesson on place value. Students needed to practice the 4 different ways to write a number. It was to help them understand place value and see the connection between each of those steps.
The second page allows students to practice making numbers using a place value mat. One can create the number using tens and ones; the other can count and write the number.
2. Reflect on your lesson. What was successful? Are you likely to repeat this lesson? What might you change? How could you adapt this project for another upcoming topic?
The students enjoyed working with it instead of the paper version I had originally created at center time. We were even able to utilize it when our pens were not working; they used the pen and my computer.
It took some time to create it as I worked my way through a new program. Hopefully it will be easier next time I want to create an activity that goes with our specific lessons.
