Kristin Siebert- Class Texting and Wordle

Project Description
- I had a substitute teacher the previous day, so students shared information they put into a graphic organizer based on their reading by texting and posting their answers.  We then converted all of their answers into a Wordle to point out the big ideas.
- I also used it as a way for students to share what appropriate use of their personal devices is in the classroom, because I had a couple of students during that class period text inappropriate answers.

Reflection
- I learned a great deal from this short part of my lesson.  I liked how students were able to respond anonymously.   I will be using it in the future for topics when I'd like feedback, but students may be unsure of their answers.  I found that I had much greater participation through texting than I typically would to a question like that.
- One thing I should have done in hind sight is to really make sure we were clear on what were appropriate response texts.  I will need to continue to teach them proper use of their personal devices while in the classroom.
- Next time I would also make sure to use questions that allowed for more variety in the answers.
- I liked how the Wordle allowed us to pull out the main ideas in an interesting way.  Sometimes redundancy is an important part of learning, but this helps make it more interesting for the students.
- I would like to use Wordle in the future with an online textbook.  Before their reading, we could throw the text into a Wordle to point out the main ideas to them before they read.
